I Hate You!

Howdo?

A couple of slow weeks have passed. Not much is going on it seems. But there is only one person who can change that – or so my mother would probably say…

Anyway, it is fun to be able to put up a new song when the mood strikes me. So here is another new one from the coming album. It is called ‘I Hate You’ and is one of more up-tempo songs on the record. Yay!

Hope you like it.

Hell, I hope you love it.

Or hate it.

Or something.

Ok, I lied… (What am I to do?)

Hey!

I keep on threatening to take songs down after a week or so and replace them with new ones and then… not much happens.

Sorry about that. I have been a bit caught up with all kinds of stuff. But to compensate I just put up ‘What Am I To Do?’ for your listening pleasure. And I am gonna leave ‘I’m Giving Up’ up on the page for a little while longer coz so many people have written to say how much they like it. (Thanks.)

‘What Am I To Do?’ is perhaps not the most radio-friendly song ever written but I hope you will like it as much I do.

The beautiful trumpet is played by the wonderful Sven Elander – just about breaks my heart every time I hear it, he plays so damn fine.

In other news: we are messing around with lucasdawson.com at the moment, so don’t be alarmed if you can’t get in there, or if things seem a bit barren and/or strange whilst you are there. Should be fixed and a little more user-friendly in a bit.

Artsy Fartsy!

Howdo!

So I met up with Per Gullberg: graphical genius the other day and we had a little chat about the cover artwork and associated stuff for the coming record.

Result: Per is on the job. I gave him a bunch of photos and carte blanche. My only real instruction was to not make me look too stupid.

It will be interesting to see what he comes up…

New Songs – Kind of…

Hi All!

I just put up MP3s of the final mastered versions of ‘Four Catastrophic Years’ and ‘We Were Too Young’, so they might not be completely new to everyone, but they are a little bit finer in all respects so have a listen anyway.

The new version of ‘Four Catastrophic Years’ is also a somewhat different arrangement than the demo version that has been up here previously.

Hope you like it!

Seriously, that was the last time… until next time

Howdy!

So nice of so many of you to come by and check out the new song over the past week – and thanks to everyone who have left messages saying how much they liked it… It cheers the heart.

So anyway, yesterday I was in the mastering studio for the last time… potentially. No really. Henrik and I were in there fixing a few tiny little details. So now the record really is finished.

I am meeting with my design-guru Per Gullberg next week to talk about the cover artwork and fun stuff like that and then who knows, maybe it will be time to press up a few copies and let people at them…

take it easy.

New Song up at MySpace!

Masters of the Universe!

Helloooo…

So last friday I went down to Helter Skelter studios in a badass part of Stockholm (kind of) and got my record mastered by none other than my old Kalamare Beat Club chum Henrik Sunbring! Henrik, sound expert extraordinaire that he is, managed to put a beautiful golden glow on the tunes, and now it all sounds superfine. If i wasn’t such a computer-dunce I would have put up a song right now for you all to hear but I have changed my system a little bit at home and can’t figure out which button to press – you know, the ‘make-computer-go-now-button!’ But I will find it very soon.

In the mean time I am gonna get cracking on the artwork and the pressing side of business, and then the – curses – marketing part (really looking forward to it – not!)

anyway, take it easy y’all.

Emily Brown!

Hey!

I have completely forgotten to mention that the beautiful voice on the backing vocals on ‘We Were Too Young’ belongs to Emily Brown who was kind enough to travel all the way from far off Gothenburg to be part of my record!

Here is a link to Emily’s own myspace page where you can listen to her own wonderful songs:

Hope all is great. I am gonna put up another song here very soon so stay tuned!

Yeah Yeah…

Hey!

Some people have been bugging me about not having been on myspace for ages and for not writing anything to tell everyone about what is going on, especially with the upcoming record. So here goes:

I have been overseas for the past couple of months or so, travelling and taking care of some personal business but am now back in Stockholm ready to take bulls by horns and accept all other kinds of challenges.

My debut record is finished – finally – after many ifs and buts and twists and turns… but only kinda. I am still waiting to get it mastered. This is something which should be able to be fixed relatively quickly but considering the general pace of the rest of the project… don’t anybody hold your breath. The guy who was booked in to do the job has disappeared and I am trying to find him, or someone else to get it done. Then of course there is the artwork and so forth but I still haven’t really decided about whether to release the record physically or not. Probably. In which case – maybe some more weeks…

I can say that the record sounds fantastic, even in its unmastered state and will hopefully will available to all soon. As has been the case so far, everyone involved – including myself – is also involved in several other projects simultaneously which has led to a great many delays… for these I apologise.

In other important news: I have a slight cold and am eating Thai fish curry for lunch.

Over and out for now.
